Profanity Delay For The Laureus World Sports Awards

Time Delay TV have supplied their profanity delay equipment and operator to CTV for the 20th Laureus World Sports Awards live from Berlin.

The broadcast was orchestrated by CTV who provide high quality live OB’s event filming and video production across Europe. CTV provided the OB facilities live from Berlin and Time Delay’s kit and operator was essential in ensuring that the broadcast was clean of profanity.

Darryl Rose, Managing Director, Time says: “These days, it’s not just about the presenters using four letter words, but also the award winners too! Our kit and operator are there just as a safety net to protect the family audience who may be watching around the globe.”

Sky’s flagship TV show ‘Soccer AM’ uses the equipment for the odd slip up of a guest’s tongue, along with ‘MTV’s EMA’s’, ‘BBC Music Awards’ and Big Brother’, ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!’, ‘The V Festival’, ‘The Mobo Awards’, ‘Fusion Awards’ and various ‘Live Streamed’ internet events.

Time is Europe’s only company dedicated to Broadcast Compliance of Live TV and uses their HD/SD Pipeline machies, which can instantly cut out profanity words and/or pictures.
Time has worked on many other live, reality and entertainment shows over the years including ‘Celebrity Love Island’, ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Take Away’, ‘Time Team’ and ‘Hells Kitchen’ and many corporate transmissions.
As soon as the offending word or sentence is heard, a button is pressed for as long as the offence occurs.

A built in reaction time is triggered, and 5 or 10 seconds later the word comes out clean by inserting an auxiliary video/audio source.
In a live situation, there is no second chance so decision-making has to be spontaneous and accurate. Time gives the broadcasters on terrestrial, satellite or internet this cushion.
